No. 01How it works

Statement to locked, in four.

  1. 01

    Import

Point the columns at date, description, reference and amount once; the mapping is remembered per account.

  2. 02

    Preview

Nothing is created until you have seen it. Duplicates are caught against what is stored and within the file.

  3. 03

    Explain each line

Match it to money the product knows about, record a new payment from it, or categorise it.

  4. 04

    Reconcile

Enter the statement's closing balance, tick what is on it, and lock when the difference is zero.

No. 02About the bank

There is no bank feed, and here is why.

A live feed needs a signed contract with a bank-data aggregator, KYC on the company and a consent flow for every customer. Varynt holds no such contract, so there is no Connect button here pretending otherwise.

No live bank feed

A feed is not a setting somebody forgot to switch on. It needs an account with a bank-data aggregator — a signed commercial contract, KYC on the company, and a consent flow each of your own customers goes through. Varynt holds no such account, so there is no feed here, and there is no date at which one appears.

What is built instead is the path a small Indian business already uses: download the statement from net banking and import it. That path is built properly — column mapping remembered per account, five date formats, a preview, duplicate detection and a reason on every row it refuses — because it is the real one, not a stand-in for one.

No. 03Import

The CSV your net banking already gives you.

  • A debit and a credit column, or one signed amount
  • DD/MM/YYYY, DD-MM-YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD, DD-MMM-YYYY and MM/DD/YYYY
  • A bad row names itself and its reason; the good rows still import
  • 1,000 rows a file, said before the file is chosen

31 February is not a date, so that row is refused rather than quietly filed on the 28th. A duplicate is the same account, date, amount and reference — untick the box when a standing instruction really did pay the same round figure twice.

No. 04Match and categorise

Every line explained exactly once.

  • One deposit can cover several receipts; the match completes only when they sum to the line exactly
  • Nothing to match? Record the payment straight from the line
  • Categorise the rest: an expense with its GST, other income, owner's contribution or drawings, bank charges, interest, a transfer
  • Undo puts a line back and removes whatever it created

Adds up exactly

One deposit can settle several receipts; the match is only complete when they sum to the line to the paisa. If the product doesn't know about it yet, record the payment straight from the line instead — it becomes the real payment, and the line ends matched to it.

No. 06Questions

Asked before buying.

01Does it hold my bank login?

No. There is no connection to any bank and no credentials stored. An account keeps its name, bank, IFSC and only the last four digits of its number.

02Are there rules that categorise lines for me?

Not yet. A rules engine that mis-files money quietly is worse than none. Cheque printing and OFX, QIF or CAMT files are not built either.

03Can my CA see the bank side?

Yes. The free Viewer seat reads the accounts, the lines and the reconciliation; only an Owner, Admin or Accountant can change anything.
